What is a Certified Color Standard<\/h1>\n

Certified Color Standards are a combination of a\u00a0visual reference and a master electronic standard\u00a0in the form of spectrophotographic reflectance data and are typically stored\u00a0in a qtx-formatted file<\/a>. Certified color standards are customized for the brand or retailer with their individual color names or IDs, their logo, and their own layout.

Why do my standards vary in appearance?<\/h1>\n

Certified\u00a0Color\u00a0Standards\u00a0may have hue\u00a0differences\u00a0even though it passes the 0.5 dE CMC 2:1 specifications. CSI<\/a> does not produce within specific\u00a0color\u00a0quandrant in\u00a0color\u00a0space. The primary quality control specification is an electronic measurement against the Master Electronic\u00a0Standard.

Why is my certified standard out of spec?<\/h1>\n

The certified color standard that I received is greater than 0.5 dE to the .QTX. Measuring the certified standard is not recommended and is not best practice. However, if you measure the certified standard and\u00a0compare it against the Master Electronic Standard, you may find a dE > 0.5 dE. This does not mean the standard is\u00a0out of specifications.<\/p>\n

The Pass\/Fail determination for every certified standard is based on the measurement results from CSI. The CSI spectrophotometers are highly calibrated and profiled. The certified standards are measured under controlled conditions of temperature and humidity. Small variations in equipment and conditions may cause deviations from measurement to measurement.<\/p>\n

Can I order chiclets instead of standards? <\/b><\/h1>\n

Chiclets are only available for the retailer\/brands. They are not suitable as certified standards.

Certified Color standards are valid for one year from date of purchase.<\/p>\n
