THROUGH A DAUGHTERS EYES, AN AESTHETIC EMERGES | TRAVEL

Recently, my daughter and I went on vacation to Florida to see my mom.   It was a wonderful time spent with family.   My cousins also live in Ocala, Florida, and we all got to see one another and catch up on life.

From the auburn-red color of her hair to her sunny, outgoing personality, my mom is a “colorful” person, if you will. I took a moment to really look around at her home this time and see my mom’s infusion of color into her lifestyle. Starting with her organized closet (by color no less!) to beautiful pieces of art on the wall, to masks from her trip to New Orleans hanging in the bedroom.  Her home reflects a person with tasteful style.  Each room has the markings of much thought put forth with color.

An example is her green stucco home.  Green is my mom’s favorite color.  She made sure to have the ceiling fan in her sunroom spray-painted green to match!

My mom’s favorite room has to be her formal living room with a stone fireplace built by her husband.  It is painted a rich golden brown with furniture to match.  Each chair accents the couch, which she sought to find for a very long time. When we speak on the phone, I visualize my mom in front of the fireplace in the wintertime. I picture her enjoying the warmth of the flames, as well as the warmth of all the colors.
