Johannesburg

Jozi, Jo’burg … whatever you call it, Johannesburg,  or eGoli (isiZulu for “Place of Gold”), has more to it than just big business, diamonds and gold mines (not that I have any aversion to the last two!)

On a recent visit we were talked into taking a Sunday afternoon trip into the heart of Jozi … not something I would have considered doing on my own, but I am so happy I did! There in the heart, the city is experiencing a revival, and it is as colourful as its inhabitants. Old buildings that used to stand vacant are being converted to stunning New York style loft apartments and there is the most amazing Sunday Market with great food and drink on offer and where people, more talented than me, can display their wares. What a great way to fall in love with the city again.
